Even though we all need car insurance in Dubai, but most often we don’t understand it completely. According to the latest survey conducted by compareit4me.com, which is a leading finance comparison websites in UAE, a large proportion of drivers and car owners have entirely wrong expectations from the insurer-provider or simply don’t know about the actual terms of their insurance policy.

The report says that almost one-third of the UAE residents believe that they are entitled to compensation for any damage done to their cars due to general usage which is not true. For example, in the case of worn out brakes due to use, 34% of the car owners expected compensation from their insurers.

Car insurance companies do not cover parts that deteriorate with use and time. The survey report also says that almost 30% of the car owners have no idea about the insurance package and what type of coverage they are buying when they are signing up with the insurance provider.

The point is – there is a large proportion of car owners in Dubai who are confused about insurance coverage. Here is what you can do to solve the confusion and mystery surrounding car insurance.

Do Comparison and Shop Around

When we buy something, most of us shop around and compare prices and quality in search of finding the best value for our money. Same is the case with insurance. If you want to get the best value for your money, you have to do some research into the market, comparison, and even negotiations. The problem is, many people trust the word of the car seller and follow their advice. This is the first mistake that later results in costly blunders.

Understanding the Document

Make sure you are reading the documents in detail before signing up. It is also recommended to read every single detail along with minor points. If you find it a hard time to interpret the points or understanding them, seek help but don’t sign the paper until you have a 100% understanding of all the terms and conditions. Other than these twp major practices, learn about what is covered and what is not. For example, do insurers in Dubai offer compensation for a breakdown? No.

Do they offer windscreen damage due to sand storm or any other similar natural disaster? No, if you have not specially asked to include it. The point is, car insurance in Dubai is only confusing and mysterious if you are signing up an insurance plan in a hurry. If you are investing some time and effort in understanding the insurance offers, it is pretty simple and straight forward.
